Who went: Brendan Heywood and Peter Anderson
This trip is great. Some very impressive swimming holes and big jumps.
Lots of Rock Wallabies and even a Eastern Grey pretending to be one.
There are some fantastic little garden displays. There was a great
fig tree growing through and around the cliff covered in rock orchids.
I didn't take my camera so I may have to go back after a bit of rain
and snap them up.
There are some nice little boulder problems if you want to avoid swimming.
I probably bit off too much when I down climbed some large dirty sloping
steps. It took me a while to stop shaking afterwoods.
At 'Toilet Roll' rock Peter took off his socks and shoes off to avoid
getting them wet and then dropped one in :)
The walk out is very pleasant. Rather than a slog up some dry ridge
covered in spiky grass, you follow McDirty's creek right up almost all
the way. The walk is fairly shallow and broken up with several dry waterfalls
that you need to climb. We saw a lyre bird or two in the creek and a
large number of Eastern Greys. We also saw the remains of an Echidna
tail and a fox.
Back at the lookout we saw another Echidna as well. They are cute.
But not too cuddly.
A long but very pleasant day and not too strenuous considering I had
done Mihi the day before.
