Scuba Diving at Coffs Harbour - 12/13 July 2003

Who Went: Brendan Heywood, Scott Godwin, Roy Lawson, Mike ?? John Williams

Check out the photos.

Drove down on Friday night and stayed at Johns place. Got up early and went to the dive shop and wasted some money on cool gear. Then we went out for the first dive at Pig Island. 10m visibility and not too great. Then we went on to Split Solitary Island and this was a much better dive. Great visibility (you could see the bottom from the boat). We saw an Electric ray, a cool cuttle fish, a wobbegong shark, a blue groper and heaps of large schools of various fishes. The cuttle fish was just bizarre and was changing colour to match its surroundings.

Went out to RSL for tea and then had a look through John's great collection of underwater photography.

On Sunday went out again to Split solitary. A bit rough this time. We took some bait down and fed the fish. The blue groper was very cool up close. Scott tried out his disposable camera so hopefully the photos turned out all right.

As usually I came up first and spent a while on the boat getting sick in the rough swell. Eventually everyone else came up and then I chundered about four times and then we headed home.
