Sheep CRC software

  • The Merino versus terminal sire flock model

This model assists sheep producers to decide the appropriate numbers of ewes to allocate to self-replacing Merino matings and a first cross matings, with the aim of maintaining a sustainable self-replacing flock.

  • OFFM Calculator

“The OFFM Calculator” has been developed by K.D. Atkins and S.J. Semple as a multi-purpose tool that can be downloaded from the web-for regular review and as an MS Excel® tool for interactive training during workshop development and workshop delivery. Basic information on flock size and structure and average (adult) fibre diameter are required. The output is in the form of a profit map over time with some suggested changes for increasing profit by altering structure or selection method.

  • Wether Calculator

The Wether Calculator was developed as decision support software. It shows the economic consequences of varying the proportion of wethers within flocks of varying fibre diameter over a range of meat values for surplus stock. A range of selection options are also available for consideration.

  • Simultaneous Assortment

This program was developed to allocate animals into their most appropriate "meat" or "wool" groups according to individual information on the animals (eg. Fibre diameter (FD), Body weight (BW) and/or Fleece weight (FW).

  • Lamb Growth Predictor

The Lamb Growth Predictor is a useful tool for making management decisions in lamb production systems. The lamb growth predictor uses repeated live-weights to calculate individual growth rates.

  • Feedlot Calculator

The web based gross margin feedlot calculator enables the user to enter different real time production, economic and feeding scenarios to estimate likely profit for a lamb feedlotting enterprise.
