Impassable Terrain

This is a sample of what we will be using to represent impassable terrain.
Materials
Cork tile cut to an irregular shape
Coarse sand
Small pebbles or kitty litter (preferably unused!)
Rocks: in this case blue metal gravel
Dark base coat: in this case an acrylic black
Light top coats: in this case Tamiya's Medium Grey and Sky Grey
PVA glue
Epoxy resin glue: eg 5 Minute Araldite
Method
Using an epoxy resin, glue the gravel to your piece of cork tile. Allow to dry for about 15 minutes then using full strength PVA, glue the coarse sand to your piece of cork tile. Allow to dry for a further 30 minutes and then wash over with a 50/50 water/glue mix and allow to dry for 24 hours. Once dried, paint the base, gravel and sand with a 30% diluted solution of the dark base coat. Allow to dry and then dry brush with progressively lighter top coats.
