One of the most interesting armies for the DBA is the Kyrenean Greek for the period 630-314 BC. It has a mixture of troop type and the most unusual is the light chariot/spear combination that permits an element of Sp to dismount from each element of LCh. Kyrene was the largest of several Greek colonies in North Africa that were located between Carthaginian and Egyptian territory. Kyrene was noted for copying four-horse chariots from the neighboring Libyans and using carts to transport hoplites to prevent fatigue and thirst in the North African environment.
The army that I have fielded is on that comes from the period 630-314 BC and comprises of a General's element (1x4Sp or 1x3Cv), 2 Light Chariot elements, 2xLCh elements that act as "battle taxis" for 2x4Sp elements, 4x4Sp elements and 3x2Ps elements. Like all DBA armies, this one requires a camp. Some specialist terrain features, such as a waterway and sand dunes, will also need to be constructed.
