An oasis of a camp

As this army has an extremely low aggression factor (0) I felt certain that it could be relied upon to be the defender for a large proportion of games that it contested. So I thought that an oasis would prove to be the perfect camp for a North African based army. The base is Masonite with a beveled edge that has a 10mm piece of polystyrene glued on top. The edge of the polystyrene was beveled as well to present a slope of about 45o. An area in the middle was carved out to represent the oasis's water and was then filled with plaster to provide a smooth surface. The surface of the oasis was textured with sand to represent sand. This was painted a dark brown colour and then heavily drybrushed with a beige colour. The water was painted a deep blue colour. The palm trees and undergrowth are plastic that I obtained from a bargain store. Once everything was dry I sprayed a matte clear finish to remove the glossy plastic effect on the vegetation. The final step was to use a gloss acrylic finish on the water.
