Rough Going

This is a sample of what we will be using to represent rough going.
Materials
Cork tile cut to an irregular shape
Coarse sand
Small pebbles or kitty litter (preferably unused!)
Pine bark chips
Dark base coat: in this case an acrylic dark brown
Light top coat: in this case Citadel's Bleached Bone
Flock
PVA glue
Method
Using full strength PVA, glue pine bark chips and coarse sand to your piece of cork tile. Allow to dry for about 30 minutes then wash over with a 50/50 water/glue mix and allow to dry for 24 hours. Once dried, paint the base, pine bark and sand with a 30% diluted solution of the dark base coat. Allow to dry and then dry brush with the lighter top coat. Finally daub some full strength PVA on in an irregular pattern and then sprinkle on the flock. To ensure that the flock stays on the terrain piece, wash over it with a 50/50 water/glue mix and allow to dry for 24 hours.
