Rural students can now take the first step towards a medical career without leaving their home town. From Broome to Broken Hill to anywhere in Australia, UNE's Medical Science Program has opened the door for people to undertake their pre-medical training via distance education. Dr Gemma O'Brien from Physiology, in UNE's Faculty of the Sciences can outline how distance education is helping to address the shortage of medical practitioners in rural and regional Australia.
