ABARE Vacation Employment Program
This Program offers the opportunity for economics students heading into their honours year to work with ABARE for 6 weeks in January and February each year. Successful applicants are guided by experienced research staff on topics tailored as much as possible to their particular areas of interest. The program offers valuable applied research experience, as well as giving the Vacation Employees a good understanding of what it's like to work in a government organisation. A number of previous Vacation Employees have gone on to successfully apply for ABARE’s graduate program the following year.
ABARE pays Vacation Employees a full salary while they are in Canberra ($36828 per annum pro rata) and they attract the same employment conditions as all other salaried staff, including some paid leave and ability to work flexible hours.
Applications can be lodged via www.abare.gov.au .
