Wells represent a valuable resource of archaeological material. This is due, not only to their value as a proxy for urban development, but also as a stratified deposit. This is a result of the practice of infilling once these wells were abandoned as a water source. This would reveal aspects of early 20th Century culture which may contain items that would otherwise not be preserved in the archaeological record due to waterlogging. This in turn creates exceptional circumstances for the preservation of organic remains.

Future excavations of former hotel sites in Armidale may be possible especially if changes in urban layout occur. The sequence of architectural style present in the hotels of Armidale may also be an interesting source of information relating to trends in society.
