- Communication Skills
You will practise a range of communication forms including written and graphic. Assessment tasks emphasise choice appropriate forms.
- Global Perspecitve
Awareness of individual differences is a focus of the unit.
- Information Literacy
The planning of teaching episodes encourages you to explore different ways of acquiring, evaluating and using information. As well, the unit has an online component.
- Life-long Learning
The content and assessment task are directly related to the use and evaluation of personal learning strategies and the development of new approaches to learning.
- Problem Solving
Teaching is a problem-solving activity. In this unit you will continually wrestle with the problem of how to plan effective learning episodes for a wide variety of learners.
- Social Responsibility
This attribute is not explicitly developed in this unit except for an emphasis on trying to improve education for all students, including those students whose social backgrounds have not positively influenced their learning.
- Team Work
Collaborative activites will be undertaken in workshops.
The nature of teaching as a professional activity means most of these attributes are specifically addressed through the content and assessment tasks of this unit.
